Word Search

WordsearchVary the forms of practice. Practice two things at the same time when possible. Keep it light. 3 good rules to practice by. In this word search we are reviewing words practiced with the ‘Jolly Phonics’ word cards, adding words that rhyme, and keeping the session light with a bit of parental help.

We have been using a word search app on the ipad whilst waiting in the doctor’s waiting room (common enough this time of year). It was good, but I wanted to make something more appropriate to my daughter’s level and practice requirements. DIY time. I have been using a free online puzzle maker for years at various schools. It’s great.

You can download the pdf of this wordsearch 1. Make your own here. Create the word search and copy it into a box in a word document. Do the same for the words beneath. Perhaps you can do a better job with the layout than I did this time. The process is easy enough that you can get the sprog to create the puzzle themselves by typing in their own words.

Oh yes! We love wordsearches – anything that will facilitate new vocabulary and word recognition/spelling etc. We’ve moved up to doing scrabble now in English with both our sprogs, having done a game called Boggle in between.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas, and best wishes for 2014!
